LAS KELLIES (Post Punk - ARG)

 

2011 has been a good year for Kellies: produced by Dennis Bovell (Madness, Fela Kuti, Orange Juice...) and championed by influential journalist Everett True, they have signed with Fire Records (UK), and toured all over Europe as well as Chile and Argentina. They have just released a 7" of the song "Erase You" for Record Store Day (also on Fire Records), one side with the original song from ESG, and the other side with a cover by Las Kellies, different from the one on the album.

These three girls have created an irresistible blend of raw, spicy rock that owes as much to old rock and roll as it does to The Raincoats, which turned out to be a veritable birthday party of a record. Their wild primitive rock comprises catchy garage sounds with cumbia, dub and post-punk. Think The Slits, Gang of Four, B-52's, Devo, Shonen Knife... P-A-R-T-Y!!!
